Mkuseli Faku
Executive Chairman
Mkhuseli started his career in the oil industry with Shell, as a Retail Territory Manager and proceeded to be the Managing Director of Afric Oil, South Africa’s first black oil company. As the founder of Calulo Investments, he is one of the authors of the South Africa’s first Black Economic Empowerment charters, the Liquid Fuels Charter. He is the founding member of the SA’s World Petroleum Congress and Nepad Energy, having served on both committees. He serves in several boards both listed and unlisted and is a Governor of the board of Rhodes University. He is an alumni of Rhodes University, Wits Business School and Harvard Business School in Boston United States of America, where he read legal studies, industrial sociology, advanced management skills and Executive Leadership and entrepreneurship.
Gabby Sequeira
Chief Executive Officer
Gabby is responsible for leading the development and execution of Calulo’s long term strategy. Over his 20 year tenure at Calulo, he has been actively involved in the review and execution of new ventures for Calulo as well as provided strategic and operational support and continuity for investee companies. Gabby brought operational and financial experience to the company having worked as a financial manager for a listed group and headed an energy distribution company prior to joining Calulo. He holds a Business Science degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Cape Town and completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Danielle Brady Moffat
Chief Financial Officer
Danielle is responsible for M&A, portfolio management and finance. Her previous work experience includes being a transactor in the Private Equity team at Investec Bank Limited. Danielle is registered with SAICA as a Chartered Accountant, having completed commercial Training Outside of Public Practice (TOPP) articles at Investec Bank Limited.
Avon van der Merwe
Executive Legal, BBBEE, HR & Company Secretary
Spending the last 14 years with Calulo, Avon an executive, is part of the M&A team of Calulo and is responsible for all legal advisory, regulatory and BBBEE compliance, head of HR and the Company Secretary of the Calulo Group. She has extensive work experience in the legal fraternity, including M&A’s, having held positions ranging from a labour consultant, legal advisor and company secretarial. Avon is a qualified attorney and holds a B.Com Law degree from the University of Johannesburg and a B.Proc degree from UNISA. Avon is a member of the Law Society of South Africa and holds a Certificate in Corporate Governance.
Siya Xabanisa
Investment Officer
Siya joined the team in 2019. His core responsibilities including managing the existing portfolio of investments, and identifying and execute on new investment opportunities. Siya has industry experience working at British American Tobacco, one of the largest FMGC players globally. He has a wealth of experience in strategy formulation, execution, and analysis having spent close to 6 years at a major management consultancy, Deloitte Consulting. He holds a Bachelor of Business Science from the University of Cape Town.
Haseena Jogee
Legal, BBBEE & HR Advisor
Haseena joined the Calulo team in 2013 and is responsible for legal advisory, employment law and broad based transformation for the Calulo Group. She forms part of the M&A team at Calulo and serves as a Director on various energy as well as renewable energy companies within the Calulo Group. She currently also serves as a trustee on the Calulo Foundation Trust and the Danaher Trust, both public benefit organisations committed to improve the lives of the less fortunate. Having worked for a law firm as a practicing attorney, Haseena specialised in employment, company, commercial and transformation legislation and advisory. She is an admitted attorney and holds an LLB from the University of Johannesburg. She has also completed her Higher Diploma in Tax Law. Haseena is a member of the Law Society of South Africa.
Sashvika Pather
Assistant Company Secretary
Sashvika is responsible for corporate governance, compliance, legal advisory and statutory administration, while holding the position of Assistant Company Secretary for the group. She was previously employed as the company secretary and legal advisor for a prominent gaming company in which she attended to all company secretarial and legal matters for 99 entities and has thus gained a wealth of experience. She holds an LLB degree.
Amanda Venter
Senior Group Account
Amanda is responsible for the day to day financial operations of the Calulo Group, including group and corporate accounting, reporting, trial balance preparation, and tax affairs. Amanda has previous work experience in the mining and accounting services industries, with 21 years of industry experience and 11 years at Calulo.
Khensani Tshabalala
Senior Group Accountant
Khensani is responsible for the day to day financial operations of the Calulo Group, including group trial balance preparations, corporate accounting reporting and other ad hoc financial and risk functions. She has worked in the accounting and finance environment for over 10 years, having worked in the Travel, Manufacturing and Finance industries. Khensani has a National Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting from the University of Johannesburg, as well as a BCom Accounting Degree from Unisa.
